Our History:
Stories that led to service

The Periphery Foundation grew out of the efforts of Brandon Ferdig’s human interest journalism.

He began by traveling the U.S., capturing people’s lives from Alabama to Alaska. These interviews would later focus on a particular topic, rather than region. In 2018, the topic was homelessness, and the rise of a prominent encampment in Minneapolis set the scene for Brandon’s documentary “The Wall” (right).

Proceeds from this film premiere needed a home, as did the revenue starting to accumulate from Brandon’s YouTube channel, The Periphery, where he posts his interviews with marginalized people across the country.

The Periphery Foundation was born.

We now function as the arm of The Periphery Media to handle production of stories devoted to social causes—and the distribution of funds to help address them.

Which causes? Check them out here.

And who are we? See below.

“The Wall” is the humanitarian media project from which
The Periphery Foundation grew.

Our most recent effort: Finding, following-up, and giving Carrie $1000 in proceeds from her first video story.
